About My Teaching
This is my 6th year of teaching, and my fourth year teaching at Abraham Lincoln H.S. in CBCSD. For the 2018 – 2019 school year I will be teaching Algebra 1 and Geometry. In previous years at ALHS I have taught Integrated Math 1, Integrated Math 2, and Integrated Math 3.
Prior to teaching in Council Bluffs, I spent 2 years teaching in at Southwest Valley High School in Corning, IA. At Southwest Valley I taught Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra 2, Core Math, Consumer Math, and a Basic Math Concepts course.
About My Education
I graduated from Spencer High School in 2003. While a student at SHS I was involved with marching band, concert band, concert choir, show choir, jazz choir, large group speech, theatre, soccer, track & field, cheer-leading, and I was a member of National Honor Society. I also had a part time job at the movie theater in town.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a minor in Philosophy from Central College, a small private college in Pella, IA. While at Central I was a member of the Concert Choir and the Chamber Singers.
After graduating from Central, I took a job for a company that helps small colleges and other organizations run their fundraising programs. After working there for two years I took a position as an AmeriCorps member working for the ISU Extension Service in Clay County. During my time as an AmeriCorps volunteer I also enrolled in classes at Buena Vista University to get my Iowa teaching license. I received my 5-12 Mathematics license in January of 2012.
Currently, I am working toward my Masters in Math Education from Iowa State University. I expect to finish this degree in the summer of 2019.
I live in Council Bluffs with my husband, Michael, our daughter, Aurora, and our two cats, Torak and Andromeda. We moved to CB in the summer of 2014, shortly before Aurora was born.
In my free time I like to play with my daughter, go on road trips, scrapbook, sew, and crochet. Occasionally I will also find time for other craft-type projects.
